The Las Vegas Raiders started their preparation for the 2022 NFL season last week, but one player has been notably absent from training camp. 2022 Fourth-round pick Zamir White has yet to take a snap and head coach Josh McDaniels provided a rather vague update on the young running back.
Las Vegas Raiders News
The good news is that McDaniels made it seem like White will be back sooner rather than later. The bad news is that he didn't specify exactly what is going on. White is presumingly missing time with an undisclosed injury and missing practice reps that will be crucial to finding his role on the offense.
That's especially the case when considering veteran ball-carrier Brandon Bolden still has a shot to grab the No. 3 RB spot from right under White's nose. All signs point the the rookie being unable to participate when the Raiders take part in the preseason Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, August 4.
Keep in mind the 22-year-old out of Georgia is a playmaking machine when at full health. White racked up over 2,000 rushing yards in three college seasons and averaged a reliable 5.3 yards per carry. His ability to pound the ball into the end zone (25 total touchdowns) cannot be overlooked, too.
Expect McDaniels to be asked about White again in the coming days. Hopefully, an update that reveals a concrete return timeline will be given this time around. For now, the Raiders have odds set at +4000 to win their first Super Bowl title since 1984, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
