After spending three seasons with the Denver Broncos, fourth-year running back Phillip Lindsay joined the Houston Texans on a one-year, $3.25 million contract this offseason. While it's always nice having a two-time 1,000-yard rusher in a backfield, Houston also added veteran running backs Mark Ingram and Rex Burkhead into the equation — which already included returning Texan David Johnson.

In other words, a backfield of four capable running backs has left Lindsay's fantasy potential up in the air.

Phillip Lindsay Fantasy Outlook

Lindsay knows what it's like to share backfield, much like what he did with Melvin Gordon III in Denver last season. He finished the campaign with 530 total yards from scrimmage and a touchdown — by far his most disappointing season to date.

Nevertheless, Lindsay has shown that he's better than that in the past and perhaps a change in scenery is what he needed to get there. The 4.3 yards per carry he averaged last season also indicates that he can produce more if just given the opportunity. If Houston's coaching staff is to be believed, he'll be given that chance to kick off the new year.

Texans head coach David Culley has gone on record saying that the team will focus on controlling the ball this year, which means that there'll be a lot of touches to go around in the backfield.

Lindsay should see the biggest share to start the season, but, it's up to him to prove that he deserves that amount going forward. Even if guys like Ingram and Burkhead are getting older, they're still serviceable options who could eat into Lindsay's touches if he's not careful.

Phillip Lindsay ADP

Lindsay is currently being drafted as RB48, according to FantasyPros, with an average draft position of 155.0.

Meanwhile, The Duel's fantasy football rankings have him down as RB40.
