The Baltimore Orioles are well out of the playoff picture at this point, and the team's pitching struggles certainly share some of that blame. John Means is the only starter to have any real success this season, but he's been sidelined for over a month.

The lefty continues to make progress in his injury recovery, though, which is great news.

John Means Injury Update

Means went three-plus innings in his most recent start for Triple-A Norfolk. While he gave up five hits and a homer, the more important focus is that Means' live game activity is ramping up. His expected return sometime next week looks right to be right on track.

The 28-year-old was enjoying a solid start to the 2021 season before being sidelined by a shoulder strain. He owns a 4-2 record with a 2.28 ERA (the best on the team) and 69 strikeouts across 12 starts.

Baltimore is currently at the bottom of the AL with a 28-61 record. Hopefully Means' return will help the team finish with a solid effort down the stretch.
