When Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball went down with a wrist injury last month, the Rookie of the Year race changed significantly. Ball was the dominant leader at -550 to win the award.
But Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has since taken the lead. FanDuel Sportsbook's futures odds have Edwards (-125) as the current favorite in the race, with a slight lead over the injured Ball (+210). Sacramento Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton is also +210.
3-Man Race in 2021 Rookie of the Year Odds
There are less than 20 games remaining in the regular season, and Ball is likely out until the playoffs. He averaged 15.9 points on 45.1 FG%, 6.1 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest before going down.
Edwards is providing a solid scoring punch at 17.9 points per game. The former Georgia wing is also averaging 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest.
Haliburton has shot extremely well for a rookie, hitting 47.8% from the field and 41.4% from long range. He's averaging 13.0 points and 5.1 assists per game.
New York Knicks point guard Emmanuel Quickley (+1600) still competitive in the ROY race, but there is a big gap to Golden State Warriors big man James Wiseman (+6500). Chicago Bulls forward Patrick Williams (+10000) and Detroit Pistons forward Saddiq Bay (+10000) round out top contenders in the Rookie of the Year odds.
