It's a two-man race to the finish for NBA's Most Improved Player award. FanDuel Sportsbook's futures odds have seen Julius Randle (-155) slighly increase his lead over Jerami Grant (+145) since late March. Randle made a mighty surge from February, when his odds were +6500. He closed the gap and passed Grant to take the lead heading into April.
Randle paces the New York Knicks in points (22.9), rebounds (10.7) and assists (6.0) per game. Those are all career highs for the former No. 7 overall pick. Randle is also hitting a strong 40.7% of his 3-point shots. The Knicks are in a battle for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
Grant plays for the last-place Detroit Pistons, which hurts his chances but doesn't diminish his improved production. His first season in Detroit has been stellar, leading the team in scoring with a career-high 22.5 points per game. The 6-foot 8 forward adds 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.
Zion Williamson (+2000) of the New Orleans Pelicans has cracked the top five with his improved stats in his second season, averaging 26.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest.
