Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Thursday, 1/28, NBA DFS action.
LeBron James Fantasy
Target LeBron James, SF, Los Angeles Lakers ($10,700): The small forward spot is incredibly thin tonight, and LeBron James is easily the top play. The King is playing on the second half of a back-to-back, but so are the Detroit Pistons, so that's less of a concern. James' fantasy production is down this year, but "down" for LeBron has still meant an average of 46.3 FanDuel points per game. He brings that output into a plus matchup with a Pistons squad that's allowing top-12 fantasy production to opposing small forwards on the year.
DeAndre Ayton Fantasy
Target DeAndre Ayton, C, Phoenix Suns ($8,300): The Golden State Warriors rank dead-last in the NBA in total rebound rate, at 47.3%. DeAndre Ayton ranks No. 4 in the NBA with 12.3 rebounds per game. He's liable to do serious damage on the glass tonight, and that should be paired with a solid offensive output, considering Ayton has attempted 13-plus field goals in four of his last five games.
Reggie Jackson Fantasy
Target Reggie Jackson, PG, Los Angeles Clippers ($5,000): The Los Angeles Clippers are playing short-handed, and that led to Reggie Jackson pushing close to 40 minutes of action in his last outing. These weren't empty minutes, either. As we've seen in each of his last five games, he had a usage rate north of 20%. That translated to a hefty 47.4 FanDuel points. Expecting that many again on Thursday may not be realistic, but he remains an elite value play against a Miami Heat team that checks in at No. 22 in defensive rating and will once again be playing without some key pieces.
Jerami Grant Fantasy
Avoid Jerami Grant, SF, Detroit Pistons ($8,400): Jerami Grant's breakout season has been a lot of fun, but he's an easy fade in DFS tonight. He's overpriced to start with, having put up sub-40 fantasy point performances in three of his last four, and now he draws a matchup with the Lakers. L.A. owns the NBA's best defensive rating.
DeMarcus Cousins Fantasy
Avoid DeMarcus Cousins, C, Houston Rockets ($8,000): With Ayton making such a great play at roughly the same price-point, it's hard to justify paying up for Boogie. He's coming off a couple huge games, but both were 4-of-8 nights from 3-point range, which isn't exactly sustainable for a career .331 3-point shooter. Add in a matchup with a Portland Trail Blazers team that has allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing centers, and Cousins should come crashing back down to earth a bit on Thursday. Plus, he's way overpriced if Christian Wood makes his return tonight, as he's expected to.
