Melvin Gordon Fantasy Outlook Skyrockets Following Phillip Lindsay Injury Update

Denver Broncos' running back Phillip Lindsay has been ruled out for the rest of the team's Week 7 game after suffering a concussion. Lindsay was seemingly starting to take control of the backfield this week, handling 9 carries for 79 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs before exiting the game.
There's nothing concrete about his status for Week 8 quite yet, but Melvin Gordon would be looking at a serious boost in fantasy value if Lindsay can't go.

Melvin Gordon Fantasy Outlook
If Lindsay can't go, Gordon would be set to handle the lion's share of the touches in a decent matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. Entering Week 7, the Chargers checked in at No. 13 in Football Outsiders' rush defense DVOA metrics, and Los Angeles was the league's No. 18 scoring defense.
As of the writing of this article, Gordon has racked up 34 yards from scrimmage on 11 touches in Week 7. He'd likely settle in as a solid RB2 against the Chargers next week if Lindsay is unable to suit up.
Gordon wouldn't be much more than a FLEX option if Lindsay is active, however, so it'll be important to monitor his status throughout the week.
