Cam Newton remains an unrestricted free agent. Now, in a post-draft world, the potential suitors for Newton have dwindled a bit. Teams like the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers, who both got their signal callers of the future in the draft, are no longer in serious consideration, as they were a month ago.
While the Jacksonville Jaguars were in the running a month ago, they were tied with the Dolphins as the favorite at +250. However, fast forward to today and the Jaguars odds have taken a massive leap and are now the odds-on favorites to sign Newton, getting -150 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Cam Newton Jaguars
While the Jags have Gardner Minshew set for the starting role this season, they don't seem 100 percent set on him as the long-term solution. Jacksonville did also draft Oregon State's Jake Luton in the sixth round, but they will probably be looking for some more assurance than that at the team's most important position. Newton provides exactly that.
Odds to Sign Cam Newton
Behind the Jaguars (-150) in the odds are the New England Patriots (+400), Chicago Bears (+600), Denver Broncos (+750), Washington Redskins (+800), Pittsburgh Steelers (+1000) and Las Vegas Raiders (+1500).
All of those teams have questionable quarterback situations moving forward, so none of them being on the list is much of a surprise. Jacksonville taking control here is definitely noteworthy, especially considering just how heavily they are favored.
