Giants News: San Francisco Manager Gabe Kapler Provides Buster Posey Injury Update

After sitting out the pandemic-shortened 2020 MLB season, Buster Posey has been lighting the baseball world on fire in 2021. In the 12th season of his career, and at 34 years old Posey has been named the NL's All-Star starting catcher for his seventh all-time nod at the event.
While this feat is remarkable, San Francisco Giants fans got a scare on Sunday when Posey exited the game after just six innings. The 34-year-old backstop departed after taking a foul tip off of his glove hand, a potentially scary injury for catcher.
Manager Gabe Kapler provided a full update on Posey's injury following the Giants' 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Buster Posey Injury Update
According to Kapler, the Giants had their veteran backstop undergo x-rays, which thankfully came back negative. He officially listed his seven-time All-Star catcher as "day-to-day," but this is troubled avoided.
Posey is off to one of the best starts in his career, slashing .328/.421/.547 with 12 home runs and 28 RBIs through 58 games. He's not far off his career-best marks at the plate, which came in 2012 when he hit .336/.408/.549 on the year.
Keep in mind, the Giants won one of their three World Series titles during the 2010's back in 2012. Right now, the Giants have the best record in baseball at 53-30, while leading the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers by 0.5 games.
