Davante Adams is set to return to the football field in Week 9, after missing the Green Bay Packers' last four games with a turf toe injury. Adams received a questionable tag on Friday, but is tentatively expected to make his return against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Adams was off to a rough start in 2019 before a breakout game in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles, in which he caught 10 passes for 180 yards.
While turf toe injuries tend to linger for quite some time, Adams was able to show enough during practice this week to prove he's game ready. In one clip released on Twitter, Adams is seen hurdling over a Green Bay coach, which provides a good indication of the health of his foot heading into Week 9.
Of course, reading too much into that video is likely a mistake, but it's still a good sign.
Awaiting Adams in Week 9 is a tough matchup with Chargers' top corner Casey Hayward, although several top receivers have had success against Los Angeles this year.
The list includes Corey Davis (six catches, 80 yards and TD), Courtland Sutton (four catches, 92 yards and TD), Kenny Golladay (eight catches, 117 yards and TD) and T.Y. Hilton (eight catches, 87 yards and two TDs). Even in a tough matchup against Los Angeles, Adams is a strong fantasy play, provided he sees the field in Week 9.
