It was a long courting process, with multiple free agent visits, but it was all worth it.
Jadeveon Clowney Browns
The Cleveland Browns are signing Jadeveon Clowney to a one-year contract for the 2021 NFL season.
Clowney's lack of production has been something of an enigma.
He clearly has all the physical tools to succeed, and he even grades out well for his play. Pro Football Focus gave him a 69.6 pass-rush grade in 2020, as well as a strong 79.1 grade in 2019. But he only managed a combined 3.0 sacks in those two seasons.
Still, he topped 9.0 sacks in each of the previous two years, and at 28 years old, it's not like this is a guy who is on the decline at the end of his career.
Clowney also wasn't surrounded by much pass-rush talent on the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans' defenses.
Now playing across from Myles Garrett, Clowney won't be the focal point of opponents' protection schemes. That should free him up to wreak the kind of havoc we haven't seen since he played alongside J.J. Watt with the Houston Texans.
Boasting one of the top defenses in the league, Cleveland ranks fourth at +1000 in the odds to win the AFC on FanDuel Sportsbook.
