Max Scherzer is now one of the most feared starters in the MLB, but some may forget that he started his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks before breaking out with the Detroit Tigers. After five years in Detroit, Scherzer decided to sign with the Washington Nationals for his next five (2020 would be sixth season with Nats).

The ace has gotten better and better as he has journeyed through the Majors, coming off a World Series run with Washington in 2019. In 365 career appearances, Scherzer is 170-89 with an astounding 60.1 WAR and a 3.20 ERA. He has dominated these three teams the most.

It was a tough call between the Milwaukee Brewers and Toronto Blue Jays (he had a higher win percentage over the Jays and a slightly lower ERA), but Scherzer did have a complete game shutout against Milwaukee. His strikeout numbers were also far more impressive at 11.8 K's per nine innings with a 0.941 WHIP. Scherzer has an even record against the Brewers, but that is clearly no fault of his own performance from the mound.

2. San Diego Padres (4-2, 2.13 ERA)

The San Diego Padres ended up on a lot of these lists for recent dominant starters, simply because of how bad they have been in the last decade. Scherzer was no exception, with a 2.13 ERA in 11 starts and 13.1 strikeouts per nine. His 0.921 WHIP and .667 win percentage were also pretty solid, but his real dominance was in Petco Park (San Diego) where he pitched to a 1.50 ERA in five starts.

1. Cincinnati Reds (5-1, 2.01 ERA)

If you thought the Petco Park numbers were good, until you see Scherzer's stats in the Cincinnati Reds' Great American Ball Park. When pitching in front of Reds fans, Max holds an 0.45 ERA in three starts with a 3-0 record. His career ERA versus Cincy is 2.01 with an .833 win percentage, 0.896 WHIP and 13.7 strikeouts per nine innings. That's downright filthy, making the Cincinnati Reds Max Scherzer's clear favorite adversary.
