The Atlanta Falcons made a statement by selecting tight end Kyle Pitts No. 4 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. It was the highest a player at his position has ever been drafted as the Falcons have made it a priority to improve an offense that scored 24.8 points per game in 2020 (No. 16 in NFL).
As if fans weren't already hyped up enough, the talented rookie turned some heads by making an incredible circus catch during training camp practice on Tuesday morning.
Quarterback Matt Ryan seemingly threw a pass right over Pitts' head and out of his reach. However, the 6-foot-6 pass-catcher went up and took it right out of the air before cornerback Fabian Moreau punched it out of his hands. Pitts never gave up on the ball and brought it in as he fell to the ground.
Opposing defenses could be in a lot of trouble if Pitts is able to repeat this kind of 50/50 ball skills when the regular season kicks off. The former Florida Gator proved he has what it takes to carry and offense by racking up 1,492 yards and 18 touchdowns over three college seasons (24 games).
There is an obvious hole left on this team following the trade of seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones this past offseason. Who knows, maybe Pitts is the one to take it over.
