The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now left with a massive hole at quarterback following Tom Brady's retirement. Most teams would pivot to a rebuild following such a big loss, but Tampa Bay could easily reload and make another championship run with the core currently in place.
Buccaneers Trade Rumors
It sounds like the Bucs could do just that after recent trade rumors linked them to two high-profile QBs.
A report from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero outlines Tampa's potential options this offseason. The team is still holding out hope Brady decides to cut his retirement short, but they've got contingency plans.
The Buccaneers have done "extensive homework" on Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson, as a trade for a star signal-caller is on the table in order to replace Brady, The team is also expected "to explore" a deal for Russell Wilson, though the Seattle Seahawks don't appear open to trading him as of this moment.
It'd be no surprise to see a big-name player eager to take the reigns from Brady. Bucs GM Jason Licht has helped build a strong contender that should continue to be in the championship conversation if there's a top player under center.
Barring a huge trade, Tampa Bay could run out the inexperienced Kyle Trask at starter. Free agency is another option as well, with former QB Jameis Winston among the more intriguing options set to hit the market.
Anyone worried about the Bucs falling off post-Brady should be excited to hear this team is willing to do whatever it takes to keep this Super Bowl contender at the top of the NFC.
