In 2019 it was abundantly clear just how important Ben Roethlisberger is to the Pittsburgh Steelers. They fell to an 8-8 record behind some terrible QB play from Mason Rudolph. That made it a scary sight when Big Ben went down and Rudolph had to step in on Sunday, threatening to snap the Steelers' unbeaten record in 2020.

Thankfully, good news surfaced on Monday.

Hearing "cautious optimism" is obviously not the best update you could hope for, but it's still pretty darn good.

Even if Roethlisberger does have to miss a little bit of time, the next couple weeks are as good a time as any for that. The Steelers get a couple of soft matchups next, taking on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10 and Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11.

Missed time or not, that means Big Ben should be back and full-go down the stretch when it matters, including for a crucial Week 12 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Mason Rudolph only managed to average 5.7 adjusted yards per pass attempt (AY/A) across 10 games in 2019, which ranked dead-last among the league's 33 qualifying quarterbacks. This team needs Roethlisberger, and it sounds like they'll have him under center sooner rather than later.

Even with Ben's Week 10 status up in the air, FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds have the Steelers as heavy 8.5-point favorites over the Bengals.
