Raiders' Plan for Kenyan Drake in 2021 Revealed

The Las Vegas Raiders' signing of running back Kenyan Drake raised some eyebrows. While adding a starting-level RB is usually a good thing, Las Vegas already has stud Josh Jacobs headlining their backfield, making the move seem redundant.
However, the Raiders plan to utilize Drake in an intriguing way.

According to the five year-vet, he'll be used as a receiver in the Raiders' offense, but also take on some rushing responsibilities as well. It sounds like the team wants to maximize Drake's pass-catching abilities while also allowing Jacobs to feature more prominently in the run game.
Drake averaged 45.0 receptions and 353.7 yards from 2017-2019 while in more of a dual-threat role with the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals. However, with Drake seeing a career-high 239 attempts in 2020 with Arizona, he registered just 25 receptions for 137 yards.
It remains to be seen what Drake's role will be on a weekly basis, and how that'll affect Jacobs as well, but the Raiders seem certain on trying to get the most out of their recent free-agent signing.
