Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Monday, 3/1, NBA DFS action.
FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA
Nikola Jokic Fantasy
Target Nikola Jokic, C, Denver Nuggets ($11,000): Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic is the most expensive player on Monday's DFS slate, and for good reason. Jokic has been a montser of late, posting 55-plus FanDuel fantasy points in seven of his last eight contests, and he's averaging 56.4 fantasy points per game this season. He's in prime position to feast tonight against a Chicago Bulls defense in the bottom 10 for opponent points per game, setting him up to have a great night as a scorer and distributor. Plus, the Bulls play at the fifth-highest pace in the league, meaning plenty of rebounding opportunities and extra possessions, which bodes well for Jokic's production.
DeMar DeRozan Fantasy
Target DeMar DeRozan, SG, San Antonio Spurs ($8,000): DeMar DeRozan was an All-Star candidate in the deep Western Conference, thanks to his averages of 20.3 points, 7.0 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. He's outpaced his fantasy points average of 38.4 in five of his last eight contests, and he gets a fantastic chance to keep up that production against a porous Brooklyn Nets defense on Monday. Brookly surrenders the fourth-most opponent PPG this season (116.3), which positions DeRozan to have a successful night both scoring and passing the rock.
Derrick Jones Jr. Fantasy
Target Derrick Jones Jr., SF, Portland Trail Blazers ($5,300): Portland Trail Blazers forward Derrick Jones Jr. is a solid value choice tonight. He's averaging 29.6 fantasy points over his last six games, way above his season average of 20.3. It's clear that the injury-depleted Blazers are relying on Jones, who's averaging nearly 30 minutes per game during that same timeframe. The Hornets are another team in the bottom ten for opponent PPG, so Jones is a prime candidate to outperform his modest salary on Monday.
Zach LaVine Fantasy
Avoid Zach LaVine, SG, Chicago Bulls ($9,300): Zach LaVine is the second-most expensive shooting guard on Monday, but his recent production isn't worth the pricetag. He's averaging just 31.2 fantasy points over his last three games, way down from his season average of 42.9. He's struggled with turnovers in recent games, cutting into his point totals, with a combined 12 TOs in his last two games. In the midst of a skid, it's best to avoid LaVine for now.
Brandon Ingram Fantasy
Avoid Brandon Ingram, SF, New Orleans Pelicans ($9,300): New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram is tonight's second-most expensive small forward, and his recent production is likely why, with the forward putting in 40-plus fantasy points in three of his last four contests. However, he draws an especially challenging opponent tonight in the Utah Jazz, who held Ingram to 31.6 and 29.2 fantasy points in their two previous meetings this season, much below his average of 39.6. The Jazz are a hounding defense, and Ingram's lack of success against them this year makes him an avoid.
