3 Most Likely Xavien Howard Trade Destinations

Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard is coming off the best season of his career as he led the NFL with 20 pass breakups and 10 interceptions. However, reports claim that he remains in search of additional guaranteed money in his contract and his continued frustrations have caused him to request a trade.
The market for Howard is large given the fact that a number of NFL teams could use a ballhawk cornerback playing in the prime of his career. With that being said, here are three of the most likely trade destinations for Howard.
Xavien Howard Trade Destinations
1. Dallas Cowboys
Anytime a starting-caliber defensive player is up for grabs, the Dallas Cowboys should be a team in the running. The Cowboys allowed the fifth-most points per game in 2020 (29.6) and are in desperate need of an upgrade in the secondary. Dallas is currently expected to start second-round rookie Kelvin Joseph, which comes with a lot of risk. Instead, the team could acquire a two-time Pro Bowler to lock down the position and give the team a boost in what has become a wide open NFC East division. Dallas would have to restructure some contracts in order to give Howard a new deal, though.
2. Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals are another team that seemingly needs one more impact player to get over the hump and into the playoffs. After letting Patrick Peterson walk this offseason, it is clear that the Cardinals could use some help in the secondary. They already made one big move by signing J.J. Watt, but the front office could show it is really all-in on this team by trading for Howard. The All-Pro cornerback has posted a total of 18 interceptions and 36 pass breakups in his last 33 games played. Lining him up alongside safety Budda Baker would give Arizona a scary starting duo.
3. New Orleans Saints
This is an opportunity for the New Orleans Saints to create one of the best secondaries in the NFL. They could bring in Howard and pair him up with Marshon Lattimore, essentially locking down the position for years to come. The Saints are in a good spot as they have depth elsewhere on the roster that they could use to entice the Dolphins in a trade offer. Plus, New Orleans has made enough cap space moves this offseason to offer Howard an extension. This is a team that could use a spark plug on defense and the tough-minded 28-year-old fits that role to a tee.
