It's definitely an emotional experience for every NFL Draft prospect when they see their name flash across the screen. Making it to the NFL is a dream come true for these players and that is accurate for former Ohio State defensive end Jonathon Cooper as well.
Cooper was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft (No. 239 overall) and celebrated with his family at home in Gahanna, Ohio. However, he also received a heartwarming surprise as all of the kids in his neighborhood came to congratulate him.
It's great to see that Cooper has a trusted support system and that a lot of people are rooting for him to succeed. He will head into Broncos training camp fighting for a roster spot after racking up 24 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 1 forced fumble during his senior season as a Buckeye.
All things considered, it is hard to get drafted. Playing at the highest level is a different kind of beast to conquer and Cooper just made the first step in accomplishing that. He also graduated from Ohio State focusing on consumer and family financial studies.
It's safe to say that those kids have someone to look up to for the rest of their lives now.
