Jon Gruden Darren Waller
Gruden said point-blank that Waller is "the best player I've ever coached." Keep in mind, Gruden is a Super Bowl-winning head coach who led a prolific defense to a title while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
That team featured greats like Simeon Rice, Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber and John Lynch. He also coached Hall-of-Famer Charles Woodson for the first four years of his career. The fact that Waller ranks above all of those players proves how much Gruden values his tight end.
Waller was even surprised by his coach's comments, saying "Dang, that's crazy he said that," after the game. Still, he certainly earned some recognition after hauling in 10 catches for 105 yards and a score against Baltimore.
The Raiders will look to keep the good times rolling in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Las Vegas is a 5.5-point road underdog in that matchup, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
