The Houston Texans drafted defensive end JJ Watt in the first round back in 2011, but his time spent playing for the organization has finally run out. The veteran playmaker was recently released by the team and now heads into the offseason as a free agent.
Odds have opened on what team Watt will take his next NFL snap for and it features a lot of contending NFL powerhouses. That shouldn't be surprising as Watt likely wants to sign with a team capable of winning the Super Bowl as soon as next season.
JJ Watt Free Agent Destination Odds
The odds to sign Watt are led by the Green Bay Packers (+250) and Pittsburgh Steelers (+250), according to the player future odds posted on FanDuel Sportsbook in Colorado. Watt grew up in Wisconsin rooting for the Packers and also played football for the Wisconsin Badgers in college.
JJ Watt Steelers
Meanwhile, Watt has two brothers also playing in the NFL as TJ Watt and Derek Watt are both starters on the Steelers. Joining them in the Steel City is definitely an option worth pursuing.
Filling out the rest of the top five in the odds are the Buffalo Bills (+600), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+600) and Tennessee Titans (+650).
Watt has both made the Pro Bowl and earned a First Team All-Pro selection five times in his career and has accumulated 25 sacks over the last three seasons. If a team truly wanted to make a splash this offseason on the defensive side, signing Watt would be a perfect way to do that.
