The Cleveland Indians and their fanbase witnessed a scary injury during Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Right fielder Josh Naylor came charging in on a bloop fly ball before colliding with Ernie Clement in the shallow part of the outfield.
The collision caused Naylor to come down awkwardly with the entirety of his weight falling on his ankle. Understandably, Indians manager Terry Francona offered up some tough news on Naylor's injury update following the game.
Josh Naylor Injury Update
According to Francona, it looks like Naylor suffered an obvious fracture. He was ultimately carted off the field and will spend some considerable time on the injured list. That's all the information out on the injury at this moment. But, at this point, the Indians are just hoping for a best-case outcome for the long-term health of their 24-year-old slugger.
Currently, Cleveland sits in second place in the NL Central standings with a 41-33 overall record, trailing the first-place Chicago White Sox by 2.5 games.
