Eagles Trying to Play Hardball With Carson Wentz Trade

Recent reports indicated that the Philadelphia Eagles would be trading quarterback Carson Wentz sooner rather than later. The former No. 2 overall pick was driving a ton of interest on the trade market, and it started to look like the Wentz sweepstakes would come down to the Chicago Bears or Indianapolis Colts.
However, Philadelphia reportedly does not like the offers it has received for the QB thus far.

We don't have anything concrete quite yet as to what teams have offered, or what, exactly, the Eagles are looking for. But playing hardball is the right approach for Philadelphia to take.
GM Howie Roseman doesn't exactly have much incentive to move Wentz, who carries an absolutely massive dead cap hit if the team moves on. For a deal to get done, Philadelphia should have to be blown away, receiving enough assets to justify carrying what would be the largest dead cap hit in NFL history.
And perhaps more than any position in sports, quarterback is the one GMs can be most irrational about. It's not crazy to think the Eagles could luck out and get a massive haul in a panic trade from a QB-needy team.
Until that happens, Philadelphia should sit tight.
