The 2021 NFL offseason is already shaping up to be a strange one. There's been uncertainty about the new salary cap, and that now threatens to change the offseason schedule.

The franchise tag deadline, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, could be pushed back. That's good news for the Dallas Cowboys.

Dak Prescott Franchise Tag

Dallas' negotiations with Dak Prescott have obviously been one of the biggest stories of the offseason for Cowboys fans, and this shift could buy them a little bit of extra time.

If the sides can't come to terms on a new deal before the deadline, the Cowboys will have to franchise tag Prescott. With a hard deadline like that, getting an extra day or two to negotiate could make all the difference.

Prescott's salary demands are high, but the Cowboys still seem set on trying to get a long-term deal worked out.
