Bears News: Justin Fields Taking Great Approach to Training Camp Preparation
By Larry Rupp

The Chicago Bears head into training camp suddenly deep at the quarterback position. Veteran Andy Dalton is expected to start, but the team also selected Justin Fields in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The rookie already seems to have a great approach to his training camp preparation.
Justin Fields said he plans to report with the Bears two weeks before training camp, allowing him to train locally and keep working on the playbook.

Said Fields: "I want to get better. ... When that time comes when I do get my chance, I just want to be ready for that moment."
Chicago fans have to be excited about the motivation and determination Fields has about his role on the team. His focus right now is simply to improve every single day and learn what he can from the veterans on the roster. The 22-year-old isn't worried at all that he likely won't be starting in Week 1.
In fact, Fields says the other quarterbacks have already had a major impact on his game so far.
"Andy and Nick, they've been awesome. Probably bigger than you guys would even know. Andy's completely taken me under his wing. Any questions I have for him, he's going to answer."

Dalton hasn't played exceptionally well over the last few seasons, so it is important for Fields to stay ready on the sidelines in case his name is called. The former Ohio State Buckeye racked up 5,373 passing yards and 867 rushing yards in two college seasons (22 games). He also accounted for a total of 78 touchdowns during that span.
It's worth keeping an eye on how Fields progresses throughout training camp this summer as it's possible he pushes Dalton for playing time right away. Chicago heads into the fall with odds set at +184 to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
