AL Rookie of the Year Odds: Rodriguez and Torkelson on Top Into May on FanDuel Sportsbook

Major League Baseball top prospect Spencer Torkelson was among the favorites to win AL Rookie of the Year at the start of the season. But as May baseball begins, the Seattle Mariners outfielder Jose Rodriguez is at the top of the American League Rookie of the Year odds at +450 on FanDuel Sportsbook.

But it's tight at the top for AL Rookie of the Year as SS Bobby Witt, Jr. and 1B Spencer Torkelson are nearly co-favorites at +500. All three of those ROY favorites are hitting below .220. Rodriguez does have 9 stolen bases (in 9 attempts), but he's also struck out 30 times – among the most in baseball.

Along with his speed, Rodriguez displayed his power at the plate on Sunday when he crushed a 3-run home run at Miami. The blast-off was his 1st HR of the season.

Cleveland Guardians Steven Kwan has yet to hit a home run, but he tops American League rookies in batting average at .340.

A rising rookie who has made the biggest jump near the top is Minnesota Twins pitcher Joe Ryan. He's now +650 having been +1800 to start the season. Ryan came to the Twins in a late-season trade with Tampa Bay last season. The 25-year-old right hander is 3-1 with a 1.17 ERA and a 25/6 K-to-BB ratio in 23 innings.
