VIDEO: Derek Stingley Posts Blazing-Fast 40-Yard Dash Time at LSU Pro Day
By Larry Rupp

Cornerback Derek Stingley is one of the more intriguing NFL Draft prospects considering he hasn't played a snap of football since Sept. 18. Don't look now, but his stock is only going to keep on rising after he posted a blazing-fast 40-yard dash at LSU's pro day on Wednesday morning.

Derek Stingley NFL Draft
Stingley clocked in at an unofficial time of 4.37 seconds, which would've ranked among the top five cornerbacks at the NFL combine. That same thing can be said about his vertical jump as well (38.5"). All 32 NFL teams were in attendance and saw firsthand the kind of athlete Stingley is when healthy.
The young ballhawk has dealt with various injuries over the last two years, but his talent is undeniable. Stingley broke up 15 passes and logged 6 interceptions in 2019 as LSU went on to win the National Championship. His ability to erase opposing pass-catchers from the game plan makes him stick out.
The 20-year-old playmaker is widely considered the second-best prospect at his position behind Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner of Cincinnati. It's not unrealistic to say Stingley's dominant performance could change that, though. All it takes is one team to be impressed and take him off the board early.
Recent mock drafts link Stingley to a number of teams including the Minnesota Vikings at No. 12 and Philadelphia Eagles at No. 15. He does have odds set at +125 to be a top-10 pick, though, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The value of that bet is seemingly rising with April 28 only a few weeks away.
