Deshaun Watson's wishes to be traded away from the Houston Texans are now official, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
This isn't exactly breaking news, but it is far more confirmation than we've had with the previous trade rumors.
There's plenty of buzz about where Watson will play next, and his departure will of course leave the Texans without a starting quarterback.
Here are the Texans' most likely starting QBs for the 2021 NFL season.
1. Tua Tagovailoa
The Miami Dolphins are one of the most likely trade destinations for Watson, and they would almost certainly include Tua Tagovailoa in the deal. The Dolphins are loaded with high-draft picks as ammunition for the trade, but Watson is a no-doubt franchise QB, leaving no incentive to hold Tua as a backup.
2. Justin Fields
If Watson is shipped off to the New York Jets, that means the Texans will almost certainly be picking at No. 2 in the 2021 NFL Draft. That's where they would look to address their need for a franchise quarterback (whether Sam Darnold is included in the trade or not), and despite Zach Wilson's recent rise up draft boards, Fields still has a good shot at being the second quarterback off the board.
3. Deshaun Watson
This one may seem like a long-shot, but with so much on the line for both sides, even major rifts between star players and organizations can sometimes be worked in. In fact, FanDuel Sportsbook's odds still have the Texans favored (albeit at just +150) to be the next team that Watson takes a snap for.
