Saints News: Mickey Loomis Gives Optimistic Taysom Hill Outlook Ahead of QB Competition With Jameis Winston

One huge storyline heading into training camps around the league is the New Orleans Saints' upcoming quarterback competition. Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill will battle it out for the right to succeed Drew Brees in New Orleans, and it's sure to be an intense contest.
Saints GM Mickey Loomis offered some words of encouragement to Hill ahead of his battle this summer.

Loomis highlighted Hill's athleticism in particular as something that makes him stand out as a player. The Saints GM also complimented the former BYU standout's leadership abilities as well.
"He can throw it. He’s got a lot of God-given talent. And he’s a smart football player as well, and he’s got good leadership skills. So, we’re going to see how all this shakes out, but we’re definitely high on Taysom.”

That's no small praise coming from a New Orleans staple. It's clear that everyone around the Saints is rooting for Hill to prove he can make it as a starting QB. His less-than-stellar performance filling in for Brees during the 2020 campaign will surely be motivation for Hill to come into camp ready to be QB1.
Experts are split on who will eventually with the Saints' starting QB gig, although Winston is the perceived favorite ahead of training camp later this month.
