As the 2021 MLB season continues, the Tampa Bay Rays sit first in the AL East with a 65-44 record. Unfortunately, they'll have to try and stay atop the division without outfielder Randy Arozarena for foreseeable future.

The Rays added Arozarena to the COVID-related injury list as he recently came in close contact with someone who tested positive for the various. This news certainly comes as a blow as the 26-year-old is one of the favorites to be named American League Rookie of the Year.

The bright side about the situation is that Arozarena did not test positive for COVID-19 himself, so this is a precautionary measure. Assuming that he continues testing negative, he could find himself back in the Rays lineup sooner than later.

Despite being a rookie, Arozarena has looked extremely comfortable throughout the current MLB season. He's appeared in 99 games for Tampa Bay so far, recording 20 doubles, 16 home runs and 52 RBI. He's also slashing .268/.344/.458 and is second on the Rays with 11 stolen bases.

While the Rays wait for Arozarena to be cleared, OF Jordan Luplow has been recalled from Triple-A Durham. He played 36 games for the Cleveland Indians earlier this season, putting up 7 HRs and 20 RBI while slashing .173/.331/.452.

The Rays will face the lowly Baltimore Orioles in the first game of Arozarena's absence. Tampa Bay is favored at -154 odds to beat Baltimore (+130), according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
