Patrick Mahomes Has the Perfect Mindset Heading into Next Season

For just the first time in the last three years, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be sitting at home to watch the Super Bowl. It came down to the last second, but Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals handed Mahomes an AFC Championship loss, and it's quite clear that Mahomes still hasn't gotten over the disappointment of this year's finish.

Fortunately, the four-time Pro Bowler and former MVP has turned that disappointment into a perfect mindset heading into next year.

Mahomes spoke to media during Sunday's NFL Pro Bowl and discussed what it meant for his Chiefs to miss out on their third-straight Super Bowl appearance.

"I'm still not over it. I don't think I'll be over it until we're playing in another Super Bowl. So I'll have to use that as motivation going forward."

At just 26 years old, Mahomes is arguably the best quarterback on the planet still and this past season's stats show why. Mahomes started and played in all 17 regular season games, and completed 66.3% of his passes for 4,839 yards and 37 TDs. He also added another 381 yards on the ground and 2 rushing TDs.

Mahomes followed up this Pro Bowl worthy regular season by throwing for 352.3 yards per game and 11 TDs to just 3 interceptions in three playoff games.

It's clear the superstar quarterback will be eyeing revenge and another Super Bowl trip for the entire offseason, and that's a scary thought for the rest of the NFL. The Chiefs are the early favorites according to 2023 Super Bowl odds on FanDuel Sportsbook, leading the pack with +700 odds.
