Mecole Hardman is facing a potential make-or-break season in 2021. Despite playing in the best offense in the NFL with a generational quarterback, the 2019 second-round pick has yet to really make his mark.

With Sammy Watkins gone from the offense and only two years left on his contract, Hardman now needs to step up and prove that he can be a true WR2 in this offense.

Unfortunately, this training camp rep against backup cornerback BoPete Keyes is not a great sign that Hardman is trending in the right direction.

Not only does Hardman fail to get any semblance of separation, but by the end he doesn't even make a play on the (admittedly poorly thrown) ball, allowing Keyes to intercept it with ease.

Hardman topped 500 receiving yards in each of his first two NFL seasons, but he never really set himself apart from Demarcus Robinson in the pecking order, and even Byron Pringle (9.4 yards per target to Hardman's 9.0 in 2020) is now breathing down his neck.

Of course this is just one practice rep, and it's not time to hit the panic button just yet. But if Hardman can't put it all together this season, he may not be a Chief for much longer.
