While the LSU Tigers beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in last year's matchup, the last decade of this SEC West rivalry has told a much different story.
In fact, Alabama has gotten the best of LSU in eight of their last nine meetings, including eight straight against the Tigers prior to last fall. And it certainly looks like the oddsmakers believe that pattern of dominance will continue this season.
Alabama vs LSU Spread 2020
Sitting months away from the 85th all-time meeting between these two storied football programs, Alabama has already opened as a 2.5-point favorite to beat LSU in Week 10 on the road in Baton Rouge, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
While 2.5 points may seem like a relatively small separation, nine of the last 12 SEC West champions have come from this annual clash, making this an extremely important matchup.
Both programs are losing projected top-5 NFL Draft picks at QB from a season ago between the departures of LSU's Joe Burrow and Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa, but that's far from it. LSU and Alabama are also both currently projected to produce between five and six first-round talents in this year's draft.
However, to little surprise, head coaches Ed Orgeron and Nick Saban both wrangled in yet another top-5 recruiting class this offseason. So, while the key playmakers will look different on both sides, the amount of future Sunday talent should remain.
Even with the 2020 college football offseason experiencing some unprecedented spring delays and cancellations, the odds and spreads around more than 100 of this fall's biggest matchups are now available on FanDuel Sportsbook.
There's still plenty of time for things to change between now and the 2020 battle between these two SEC titans, but the Crimson Tide remain notable early road favorites for the time being. Barring any scheduling changes we may see, LSU is currently set to host Alabama at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020.
