The Dallas Cowboys had high expectations for rookie linebacker Micah Parsons when they selected him 12th overall at the 2021 NFL Draft. So far, he's living up to expectations just three games into his career.
One person noticing Parsons' impressive start is none other than Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones. Jones was interviewed on 105.3 The FAN on Friday and compared the promising rookie to a pair of all-time Cowboys legends: defensive tackle Randy White and wide receiver Michael Irvin.

Jones said that Parsons has the same kind of intensity that Irvin brought to the table. He also compared the way that rookie approaches football to White.
"The exciting part of Micah [Parsons] is that he not only has inordinate talent and everything to go with it. He really has the mental makeup, and it’s going to be a real exciting time of it, watching him evolve as a player in the NFL."- Jerry Jones
Both legends brought Super Bowls and numerous individual accolades to the Cowboys organization throughout their playing time. They also currently sit in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. If Parsons can have a career even half as successful as theirs, Jones will be a very happy man.
Parsons' 13 combined tackles through his first three games rank sixth-best among rookie defenders. Meanwhie, he leads all rookies with 24 sack yards while his 1.5 sacks puts him in a tie for fourth-most among first-year players.
Micah Parsons Defensive Rookie of the Year Odds
As long as Parsons continues playing at his current level or beyond, there's a good chance that the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award could be his first major accolade.
