New York Giants fans held their breath after running back Saquon Barkley was carted to the locker room with an ankle injury. It was hard not to jump to the worst-case scenario given the RB's troubles with injuries to this point in his career.
However, the Giants got some positive news on the fourth-year pro following the game.
Saquon Barkley Injury
Barkley suffered a low ankle sprain against the Dallas Cowboys, according to Ian Rapoport. That's good news, considering the recovery for a high ankle sprain is 6-8 weeks. Instead, Barkley will "likely" miss next week's game and have "an outside shot" at suiting up in Week 7, per Rapoport.
All things considered, this outcome is much better than what was initially feared. Hopefully the RB is on the low end of the estimated 2-4 week recovery window.
Barkley was one of several losses for New York on Sunday, as Daniel Jones and Kenny Golladay both left that game with their own injuries. It couldn't have come at a worse time for a 1-4 team with a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6.
LA is a massive 10.5-point favorite ahead of that game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
