The San Francisco 49ers had some serious injury issues last year. Pretty much every 49ers skill-position player missed a game or two at some point in 2020. The team is obviously hoping to avoid a repeat, but the latest news on Brandon Aiyuk isn't exactly encouraging.

The team announced Aiyuk was dealing with a hamstring injury six days ago, and the wideout reportedly still hasn't returned to the field.

Obviously, we don't know how severe this issue is just yet. It's entirely possible that the team is just being cautious with their second-year breakout candidate.

But if he does miss any time, Deebo Samuel could see a huge uptick in value. Deebo only played one game without Aiyuk last year. Unsurprisingly, it was his best outing of the year.

He turned a season-high 13 targets into 11 receptions for 133 yards. It's worth noting that Kittle missed that game as well, though. Still, Samuel would assume WR1 duties in a high-powered offense were Aiyuk to miss any time.

That makes him a worthwhile gamble at his current average draft position (ADP) of WR35, per FantasyPros. The Duel's 2021 PPR fantasy football rankings have Aiyuk at WR21.
