The 2021 NFL offseason has only just begun, and it's clear that contract negotiations between Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys will be one of the biggest stories.

This has been a highly-publicized negotiation already, and just about everyone has weighed in with their thoughts. It's hard not to read any public statement by Dak or by the team as calculated moves.

That's why the Cowboys leaving their franchise quarterback out of a hype video for their 2021 season is so interesting.

In the team's defense, an official statement was released saying it was simply an "oversight" that Dak wasn't in the video, according to the Cowboys' senior director of media & programming Derek Eagleton.

The Cowboys' other stars weren't overlooked, though. Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Coper, Demarcus Lawrence and CeeDee Lamb all make appearances.

This was simply an oversight that should have been caught and corrected by us. Anyone who’s making it seem like Cowboys’ decision makers use social media videos to make statements doesn’t understand or take the time to understand how it all works. Trust me, there’s no story here.

The Cowboys have about a month left to get a deal done before the Franchise Tag deadline in March. Fans can expect things to only get more dramatic as that deadline approaches.
