This season was a tough one for San Francisco 49ers fans. Feeling the full effects of a Super Bowl hangover, the Niners failed to even make the playoffs in a year plagued by injuries.
49ers Super Bowl Odds
These odds are a serious reflection of the strong core the 49ers have in place. This year's team didn't look a whole lot different than the team that made the Super Bowl did, but getting just eight games from George Kittle and six from Jimmy Garoppolo led to a dramatically different result.
Speaking of Garoppolo, there have been rumblings that the 49ers are looking to upgrade at QB. Considering this team made the Super Bowl with Garoppolo, landing a Deshaun Watson or even reliable Kirk Cousins has to be an exciting prospect.
Kittle and Deebo Samuel's injuries slowed down the offense in 2020, but they did open the door for rookie Brandon Aiyuk to show what he's capable of as a secondary playmaker, and he tallied 825 yards and 7 touchdowns from scrimmage on the year.
The defense is also still one of the NFL's best, having checked in at No. 6 in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA rankings (including No. 7 against the pass and No. 10 against the run).
The sky is the limit for this young 49ers team, and fans have to feel pretty good about being considered one of the early favorites for Super Bowl LVI.
