NBA DFS 3/2/2022
Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Wednesday, 3/2, NBA DFS action.
FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 3/2
Rudy Gobert Fantasy
Target Rudy Gobert, C, Utah Jazz ($7,800): The Houston Rockets present Utah Jazz Rudy Gobert with a unique opportunity to outperform his season DFS averages. Houston plays at the league's fastest pace but ranks dead last in defensive rating, and bottom-10 in rebounding percentage. If not for Christian Wood, that rebounding number would be a lot worse. The only intimidating part of this target is the large 15-point spread on FanDuel Sportsbook, but Gobert should have plenty of opportunity to grab rebounds and points in the paint before this game gets out of hand.
Josh Hart Fantasy
Target Josh Hart, SG, Portland Trail Blazers ($6,000): With Jusuf Nurkic out, Anfernee Simons and Josh Hart are the only safe DFS options on the Trail Blazers roster. Hart has seen his usage rate climb 5.4% points without Nurkic on the court, but a pair of blowout losses has both Simons and Hart's salary dropping. Scoop them up while you still can, especially considering Phoenix plays at a top-10 pace. Hart's 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game is a bargain at this salary.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Fantasy
Target Giannis Antetokounmpo, PF/SF, Milwaukee Bucks ($11,300): Giannis continues to play lights out, evidenced by a 69.2 DFS point outing on Monday. He poured in 26 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and four blocks in the monster effort and we're simply riding the hot hand here. Miami's sixth-rated defense presents a problem, but we love the slim 4.5-point spread and the opportunity for Giannis to play at least 35 minutes.
LaMelo Ball Fantasy
Avoid LaMelo Ball, PG, Charlotte Hornets ($8,000): The Orlando Magic are not intimidating on the defense end, ranking just 24th in defensive rating while playing at a top-10 pace. But, they do excel at slowing down opposing guards. Orlando allows the 10th-fewest DFS points to opposing point guards and holds opposing guards to seventh-fewest three-point attempts in the league. Miles Bridges and Terry Rozier have surpassed LaMelo Ball in terms of Charlotte's percentage of points over the past five, and Ball is averaging just 18 points and 6 assists per game in that span (down from his season average of 19.9 points and 7.4 assists per game).
Christian Wood Fantasy
Avoid Christian Wood, PF/C, Houston Rockets ($7,000): For the same reason we'll target Rudy Gobert, we're staying away from Christian Wood. Gobert is the league's best rebounder and that presents a challenge to Wood. Utah ranks second in overall rebounding percentage while Gobert leads the league with 14.8 rebounds per night. Gobert's defensive prowess helps the Jazz limit opposing centers to the sixth-lowest FG%. There's simply not enough upside to justify starting Wood on tonight's slate.
