While the New York Mets continue to struggle with the injury bug, the franchise did get a bit of good news on Friday. According to reports, outfielder Brandon Nimmo is expected to return to the lineup and off the injured list sometime next week.
Nimmo hasn't played a game since May 2nd as he's been dealing with a finger issue. He recently began his rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse and has gone 2-for-7 with a walk and three runs in three games.
Brandon Nimmo Injury Update
The 28-year-old outfielder owns a .318/.430/.439 hitting line including 8 RBI, 2 stolen bases and 7 runs scored in 66 at-bats this season. Nimmo could be eased back into the New York lineup with Kevin Pillar playing centerfield in his absence. Regardless, Nimmo's return boosts the Mets' outfield depth big time.
Currently, the Mets sit atop the NL East standings with a 38-31 overall record. According to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook, New York has the fourth-best odds to take home the World Series title at +850 odds.
