Week 1 brings fans an exciting matchup between two of the best NFC teams in recent years as the Green Bay Packers take on the New Orleans Saints. Green Bay enters this one as 4-point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 1 clash.
Marquez Callaway Fantasy
Start Marquez Callaway, WR, New Orleans Saints: Both offenses have a number of players who are automatic starters each and every week. But, if you're looking for a fringe option to start in this matchup, look no further than Saints wide receiver Marquez Callaway. New Orleans enters this matchup with a slim wide receiver depth chart, headed up Callaway as the No. 1 option. Green Bay's pass defense ranked 15th by DVOA in 2020, very much middle of the pack. With no Michael Thomas available, expect Jameis Winston to favor both Alvin Kamara and Callaway on offense. The spread suggest New Orleans may be fighting from behind in this one and look for Winston to target the most-reliable active receiver on the roster.
Robert Tonyan Fantasy
Start Robert Tonyan, TE, Green Bay Packers: Last season, Robert Tonyan solidified himself as a solid fantasy tight end. Heading into a matchup with the Saints, the Packers will have to rely on their passing attack. After all, New Orleans gave up the fewest average fantasy points to running backs last season. Tonyan also scored 16.0 fantasy points against the Saints in Week 3 last season. All that should set him up for a nice debut this season.
Jameis Winston Fantasy
Sit Jameis Winston, QB, Minnesota Vikings: In his first-ever start at quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, Jameis Winston faces a tall test. The gunslinger goes up against a Packers secondary that gave up just 16.1 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks last season, the fifth-lowest mark in the league. Green Bay also gave up the fifth-highest fantasy points per week to opposing running backs at more than 26.9 last season. The Saints will stay in this game by relying on the dynamic Alvin Kamara, who notched 270 total touches last season, a top-10 mark in the league.
AJ Dillon Fantasy
Sit AJ Dillon, RB, Green Bay Packers: The Saints defense paints the opposite picture; New Orleans excels at stopping the run. In fact, the Saints gave up just 93.9 rushing yards per game last season, the fourth-best mark in football. Dillon, the second option in Green Bay's rushing attack, saw just 9% of offensive snaps last year. He'll be a decent option against weaker rush defenses, but the Packers are going to rely on the passing game to win this game. This spread suggests a close matchup, which means the Packers could be airing it out until the final whistle.
