The Boston Red Sox took care of business over the weekend by winning three of four games against the AL East rival New York Yankees. Boston saw its division lead over its fiercest rival increase to 9.0 games with Yankees fans left scratching their heads.

The weekend was arguably the most thrilling Yankees-Red Sox series this year, considering Boston has beat up on New York with a 10-3 record in 2021. One thrilling moment came on Friday night, when Boston starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez left his start after just 1.0 inning pitched. The Red Sox ended up putting together a miraculous bullpen win, 6-2, however the injury concerns were raised.

However, Rodriguez and the Red Sox got some positive news on his injury update on Monday.

Rodriguez left his Friday start with migraine issues. The good news? He appears to be fully recovered from the issue and is scheduled to make his next start on Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Pitching is the one area of need for Boston. The Red Sox own the MLB's third-best offense with 509 runs scored across 100 games. The pitching, on the other hand, ranks closer to middle of the pack (13th) with a 4.06 team ERA.

Rodriguez hasn't been lights out for Boston in 2021, but he's an important depth option. He's pitched to a 5.23 ERA across 19 starts.

Currently, Boston owns +1200 odds to win the World Series, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
