The Green Bay Packers were not successful in their search for a wide receiver at the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday. It wasn't due to a lack of effort, though. The front office submitted an offer for Pittsburgh's Chase Claypool that was rejected and even checked in about Denver's Jerry Jeudy.

Green Bay Packers Trade Deadline

Jeudy was a popular name in trade rumors due to a combination of his own early struggles and the struggles of Denver as a whole. However, he posted a combined 159 yards and 1 touchdown on 13 receptions in Weeks 7 & 8, which ultimately caused general manager George Paton to up his price.

Of course, that is exactly what the Packers found out when they inquired about the third-year pro out of Alabama. Green Bay was unable to create a trade package worthy of Denver's consideration and had to back out, which was much different than what happened in its attempt to nab Claypool.

The Packers offered a second-round pick to the Steelers, but the Bears swopped in and offered a second-round pick themselves. Pittsburgh opted to send the WR to Chicago as it believes that draft pick will end up being of higher value. It's safe to say quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still frustrated.

Rodgers has not been afraid to be vocal about his desire for the receives around him to step up. The Packers rank 17th in yards (339.9) and 26th in points (18.1) per game this year. The addition of Jerry Jeudy would've been a huge boost considering his extensive route-running tree and explosiveness.

Green Bay has odds set at +178 to make the NFL Playoffs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
