It was huge news early this season when the Seattle Mariners called up outfielder Jarred Kelenic for his major-league debut. The No. 1-ranked prospect within the organization didn't enjoy a ton of success at the plate, though, and was sent back to the minors.

Seattle is eager to get the outfielder more reps in the big leagues, and they're bringing Kelenic back up to start their second half of the season.

Kelenic has thrived at Triple-A Tacoma this season, hitting 9 home runs with 28 RBI while slashing .320/.392./.624. His numbers didn't exactly translate to his first stint with the Mariners. He recorded 2 home runs and 6 RBI, but slashed a measly .096/.185/.193 across 83 at-bats.

There's a ton of expectations as the team's top-rated prospect, so perhaps it was just nerves that prevented from Kelenic from showcasing his true potential at the top level. It's clear the outfielder could be a star and it's great to see him get another chance to help this team down the stretch.

Seattle is 48-43 on the year, 7.0 games back of the final AL Wild Card spot. They're considered long shots at +1600 odds to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
