After an extremely disappointing performance in 2020 that saw them go 6-10 and miss the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys are hoping for more success in the 2021 NFL season. One way they can accomplish that goal is if all their key players are healthy, including four-time Pro-Bowl wideout Amari Cooper.
After undergoing offseason ankle/foot surgery back in January, Cooper has spent the last several months recovering. With the Cowboys training camp beginning in just over two weeks, people are wondering if the wideout will be ready enough to participate. Fortunately, any concerned fans received an injury update on Wednesday that did shed some light on Cooper's situation.
Amari Cooper Injury Update
According to Sports Illustrated's Mike Fisher, the Cowboys aren't concerned about the timetable regarding Cooper's eventual return. With that being said, Fisher did add that the wideout could be "cutting it close" when it comes to whether or not he'll be in attendance when training camp begins on July 22.
Regardless, Cooper is a huge part of Dallas' offense and the team would be wise not to rush him onto the field until they're 100% sure that he's ready. In 41 games over three seasons with the Cowboys, Cooper has hauled in 224 receptions for 3,028 yards (13.5 Y/R) and 19 touchdowns. As long as he's healthy and QB Dak Prescott has fully recovered from his season-ending injury, it's not hard to imagine Cooper topping 1,000 receiving yards again for the third time in as many years.
The Cowboys are currently projected to be close to a top-10 team in the NFL next season. FanDuel Sportsbook has listed Dallas at +3000 to win Super Bowl 56, which puts them in a four-way tie for 12th-best odds with the New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos.
