Ravens GM Shares Baffling Quote About Bringing in WR Talent for 2021
By Max Staley

The Baltimore Ravens feel like they're just a piece or two away from being legitimate Super Bowl contenders in 2021. Most fans and analysts alike have identified wide receiver as a real position of need for the team heading into the offseason.
Unfortunately, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta does not seem to share that sentiment. Or at least, he isn't treating it as the priority most think it should be. Check out these quotes he shared about the Ravens' passing attack in 2021.
It's not all about getting the No. 1 receiver that everybody likes to talk about... We would certainly look at that. We would try to upgrade at every single position on this football team this offseason if we can, based on the parameters of what we have to work with draft pick-wise, money-wise and all the other challenges associated with building a football team.

Of course, he didn't rule out addressing the position. But it feels like it should be a serious point of emphasis for the club this offseason, and these quotes suggest DeCosta doesn't see it that way.
That's a bummer for Ravens fans, as this year's 2021 free-agent WR class is absolutely loaded with top-end talent. Studs like Allen Robinson, Kenny Golladay and Chris Godwin are set to be available, just to name a few, and all would be significant upgrades over what Baltimore has currently.
Even if the Ravens want to retain their identity as a run-first team, adding a legit threat on the outside should be a priority. Too often, this passing game has wilted in the big moments because Lamar Jackson doesn't have any star playmakers to throw to (aside from, perhaps, TE Mark Andrews).
At the very least, Baltimore should be looking to make a nice, low-cost upgrade on a player like Marvin Jones Jr., who is a big-bodied wideout that can consistently win on the outside. It's an element the Ravens don't currently have and sorely need.
Hopefully DeCosta changes his tune as the offseason progresses.
