The momentum seems to be building towards Carlos Carrasco's returning to the mound this month for the New York Mets. The offseason acquisition actually hasn't debuted for his new team yet due to a torn hamstring suffered in Spring Training, but he appears to be making great progress toward a return.

Carrasco was seen putting in pre-game work on Friday at Citi Field, another great sign regarding a potential return.

Carlos Carrasco Injury Update

Carrasco participated in some fielding and sprinting drills that will test his hamstring as he works himself back to game shape. It appears the 34-year-old is right on schedule with his recovery and could return by the end of July like the team has been hoping.

Carrasco last appeared for the Cleveland Indians in 2020, going 3-4 but owning a solid 2.91 ERA in 12 games. He finished fourth in Cy Young voting in 2017 by going a whopping 18-6 with a 3.29 ERA across 32 starts.

If Carrasco returns like nothing's changed, it'd provide a serious boost to New York's rotation down the stretch.

The Mets currently own the fifth-best odds to win the World Series at +900, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
