Jack Doyle Could Be Tight End Fantasy Football Sleeper Playing With Eric Ebron in Indianapolis

Tight end can be one of the most volatile positions in fantasy football. That's why a consistent stud, like Travis Kelce or Zach Ertz, is so highly coveted.

And one NFL team potentially has two viable fantasy options on its roster. The Indianapolis Colts have Eric Ebron, who vowed to break the tight end touchdown record this season, and Jack Doyle. While Ebron's stock continues to rise, Doyle is seemingly the forgotten man in the Colts' offense, making him one of the best tight end sleepers as we head into 2019.

The Colts' tight-end duo shared the field in just five full games last season, and in those contests, it was Doyle who was more active in the team's passing game. Doyle appeared in just six games in 2019, and was one of Andrew Luck's favorite targets before being place in IR last season.

With both players now healthy coming into training camp, we can expect both of them to be used a lot during the 2019 season. When it comes to fantasy, they will undoubtedly eat into one another's potential, but with Doyle's average draft position (ADP) sitting around pick No. 200, there's a lot of value that can be had from a late-round flier.

Ebron, who finished as the fourth-ranked tight end in fantasy last season, is projected as a top-10 tight end after putting together a career year in 2018. He deserves the recognition he's getting, but Ebron also did it with little-to-no competition for targets. With an ADP of 65, fantasy football owners might be better off passing on Ebron and going with the other of the Colts' two legitimate receiving threats at tight end instead.

We have to remember that Doyle received at least 75 targets in the two previous seasons, and that he was on track to reach that number again last year, prior to being placed on IR. Just because Ebron made the most of his opportunity in 2018, it doesn't mean he will have the same number of opportunities in 2019. With Doyle coming at little-to-no cost, he's a deep sleeper with high upside that should be a late-round target for fantasy owners this coming NFL season.
