The 2020 Philadelphia Eagles have been ravaged by injuries even before the season began, and it has reflected in their 1-4-1 record. That outlook got even worse last week when star tight end Zach Ertz suffered an ankle injury, which was expected to sideline him for 3-4 weeks.

However, as the team prepares for its Thursday Night Football matchup with the division rival New York Giants, the latest news on Ertz has gotten worse. He is now expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

While Ertz wasn't having a dominant year by his own standards, he was still the team leader in targets (45) and tied for the team lead in receptions (24) through six weeks.

The loss of Ertz leaves Carson Wentz without his most reliable target, in a season where Wentz has already struggled. The Eagles are also without fellow tight end Dallas Goedert, who will miss tonight's game against the Giants but could be back in the proceeding few weeks.

Luckily, the Eagles are in the NFC East, so if they can manage to just stay in range of the 2-win, division-leading Dallas Cowboys, they should have a chance to make a run once Ertz and others return from injury later in the season.
