No one quite knew what to expect from the St. Louis Cardinals during the 2021 MLB season, but it is safe to say they are outperforming expectations. They currently own a 21-14 record and sit 2 games up of the Milwaukee Brewers in first place of the NL Central division.

Cardinals fans will love to hear that St. Louis also had the biggest jump in MLB.com's power rankings this week moving from No. 15 all the way up to No. 6. They are the third-highest ranked team in the National League behind just the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres.

Cardinals News: Rise in Power Rankings

The Cardinals are in the midst of an impressive 13-4 stretch that has been bolstered by clean fielding and underrated pitching. St. Louis is starting to heat up at the plate as well scoring at least five runs in five of their last 10 games. Overall, they boast an impressive +23 run differential on the season.

The reliability of the Cardinals' pitching staff is the most surprising part of their success. Ace Jack Flaherty leads the league with 6 wins and veteran Adam Wainwright is enjoying a bounce-back season with 42 strikeouts so far. Overall, the team has posted a 3.82 ERA on the year (No. 10 in MLB).

St. Louis has a roster built on young studs and veteran talent, which means they could make some real noise in the NL this season. They have odds set at +2800 to win the World Series, according to MLB future odds posted on FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Cardinals will look to keep their momentum going when they take on the Milwaukee Brewers in a 3-games series starting Tuesday night.
